Rice Distribution @ Rotary House

On the 30 January 2011, our interactors participated the Rice Distrubution organized by the Rotary Club at the Rotary House Batu Pahat. Many Interact Club from all over Batu Pahat came to volunteer themselves to help distrubuting the many bags of rice to the poor community in Batu Pahat.

There were so many things to do as our interactors went back home with muscle cramps and so on. We had to carry hundreds of rice bags, each weighing 2kg, from the truck to the table outside Rotary House on the 29 Jan(Saturday). Sadly there weren't people came to take the rice bags so our interactors had to take ALL the bags into the Rotary House. It was very tiring as we were short handed (lack of helpers). And the next morning we had to bring all out again. But luckily, many people came and the outcome was a success.

Mandarin Orange Distribution

To usher the new year, isn't it great to just give to the society and see those smiles on their faces? So, that was what we did! The Interact Club of TIGS organized our annual mandarin orange distribution lead by Int. Tee Yu Shen as the Organizing Chairman for this activity.

Wrapping the oranges was not an easy task. Therefore, on the 18/2 (Friday), directors and interactors gathered and managed to complete packaging the oranges. As the saying goes, ' Many hands make light work'.

The distribution was done on the 19/2 (Saturday) and all the teachers were delighted when we gave the mandarin oranges and wishing them Happy Chinese New Year. Our nicely wrapped oranges attracted many of the students attention and some even asked us to give them. But of course we said "NO!" *in a nice way* as those were only enough for the teachers.

Chinese New Year Deco!!!

As the Chinese New Year mood approach, all Chinese students are anxiously waiting for THE DAY to come ; wearing new clothes, having family get-together, having HOLIDAYS and I’m sure every children love money right?? As for me, I like the green notes especially the blue coloured one (which is RM50) or if I’m lucky, I may get a white one (RM100 note)!! Haha

On the 26 January 2011, the club had organized ‘Do Your Own (DIY) New Year Decorations’. Everyone was divided into groups of 6-7 members. Each and every group had creative ideas of their decorations including a CNY door knob card, Rabbit-shaped deco using only ‘ang pow’, various patterns of lanterns, CNY cards and Manchurian inspired hat.

A picture speaks a thousand words right?? So allow me to share with everyone our wonderful activity..haha =)

A Visit to the Day Training Centre (DTC)

On the 22nd of November, we had a trip to Day Training Centre (DTC) to do some volunteering work. The purpose of organizing this activity was to encourage members to do community service that goes well with our motto that is 'Service Above Self'. As the bus was not available on that day, our 3 dedicated teachers sent us to the centre by going to and fro twice as there were too many of us to fit into 3 cars. The total of 22 participants of form 2 and form 3 interactors participated in this fun event.

The activities that we did while we were there were playing games, doing art and craft, giving out souvenirs and even celebrating one of the student's birthday.

Looking at their happy faces really makes us feel delighted in our heart.

Leadership and Motivation Camp 2010

7th Joint Installation of HSBP and TIGS- GET ILLUMINATED!

Venue: Hai Huang Restaurant

Theme: Get Illuminated!

The Interact Club of HSBP & TIGS had organized the 7th Joint Installation on 8th September 2010 which was held at Hai Huang Restaurant. The theme for this year was "Get Illuminated!" . The hall was filled up with guests at around 6.30pm. , followed by the arrival of Rotarians and teacher advisers from both school. Then, the ceremony was addressed by the Master of Ceremony of the night, Int. Klein Kee, Int. Sherri Low, Int. Lim Wen Qing and Int. Clement Tew.

The ceremony started with the singing of the National Anthem and roll call from Interact Club and Leo Club of various schools. Then , The Rotary President, Pres. Bobby Lim, the New Generation Service, Rtn. Emily Chin and the Rotarian advisor of HSBP, PP Mr. Foo Kok Hing delivered their speeches. The ceremony continued with the speeches from outgoing President from both school, PP. Teo Raymond and PP. Wendy Victoria Vaz.

Next, momentoes were given to the outgoing Board of Directors and souvenirs were also given to the Rotarians, teacher advisors, sponsors and the most active member of both clubs. The ceremony was continued with the presentation of badges to the incoming Board of Directors 2010/2011 of both schools. Then the oath taking was led by the Presidents of Interact Club HSBP and TIGS, Tan Jing Xiang and Jane Lim Min Li, followed by the singing of Interact Song.

On that night, various performances were performed such as fashion shows (In Wedding and Rocker style), dance performances by committees and verxus dance studio, Magic show, Light Performance, singing from Int. Wendy Victoria Vaz & the active member of TIGS, Koh Jia Yi.

On the whole, it was really a very successful and memorable night for everyone especially the organizing committees as they had put in a lot of efforts to make sure that the ceremony run smoothly.Every guests were given a goodies bag and as a token of appreciation before they left. The committee members took some photos for remembrance of that wonderful night.

International Understanding Night ( I.U.Night 2010)

The annual International Understanding Night 2010 is here again.

MALAYSIA is the country chosen by the organizing committee for this upcoming event.

For your information, I.U. Night is an annual event by the Interact Council of Batu Pahat, under Rotary Club Batu Pahat. The aim for this event is to promote the chosen country to everyone in the community.

Sports Day Food Sale

It was the annual sports day of our school again!!!
The food sale was organised by Int. Chai Ming Shiuan. The selling went successfully on that day.

On that day, all the club members were asked to register themselves. After the registration, the Master of Ceremony, Int. How Shin Lei and Int. Lim Ze-yuin had requested everyone to gather.Our teacher advisor, Miss Lam had also given her speech. The orientation began with the slide show prepared by Int. Nur Alia and Int. Lai Yong Jun . The ceremony continued with the singing of Interact Song.Around 11am, all members were divided into groups and started to play the games prepared by the commitees. Souvenirs were also given . The activity ended at 12.30pm.

Visit to Day Training Centre

Time : 9.00-12.30

We had our community service project for the last activity of the year 2009.We paid a visit to the Day Training Centre (DTC) with a total of 20 interactors accompanied by one of our teacher advisor, Cik Siti Nor Aswani.

All the participants were told to arrive at 8.00am and gathered at the school canteen for some preparation.The 20 participants and teacher advisor boarded the bus at about 8.30am.

All the participants were divided into groups and were given a briefing on what they had to do. After that, everyone started doing their works.

Our Interactors have been holding on the motto of Interact Club - Service Above Self. They're always doing their best to help the less fortunate with their sincere hearts. Great Job!!!....Interactors

On the whole, it was a very successful project which has benefits everyone who took part in it. We managed to take some memorable photos before leaving the place!.....

The 6th Joint Installation of HSBP & TIGS

The Interact Club of HSBP & TIGS had organized the 6th Joint Installation on 28th August 2009 which was held at Hai Huang Restaurant. The theme for this year installation was " Love In The Act" . The hall was filled up with guests at around 6.30pm. , followed by the arrival of Rotarians and teacher advisers from both school. Then, the ceremony was addressed by the emcees of the night, Int. Akmal Hakim, Int. Lim Ze-Yuin, Int. Lim Wen Qing and Int. Muruga Prasanth.

The opening performance of the ceremony was the IntroBANDuction (Interact Band). After that was the singing of the National Anthem and roll call from Interact Club of various schools.Then , The Rotary President, Pres.Chew Kok Siang and the New Generation Service, Rtn. Teo Cheng Chuan delivered their speeches.The ceremony continued with the speeches from outgoing President from both school, Int.Tan Kah Yee(HSBP) and Int. Fiona Ng(TIGS).

Next, momentoes were given to the outgoing Board of Directors and souvenirs were also given to the Rotarians, teacher advisors and sponsors.It was continued with the presentation of badges to the incoming Board of Directors 2009/2010 of both schools. Then the oath taking was led by the President of Interact Club HSBP,Int. Teo Raymond , followed by the singing of Interact Song.

On that night, various performances were performed such as fashion shows (In Nyonya style), ballroom dance, Magic show, Transformer, the music show which combined guzheng, piano,violin & chinese flute, and singing from Int. Wendy Victoria Vaz & Int. Ruby Tan.

Visit to Early Intervention Center

Time : 2.00pm - 3.30pm
The 1st joint project with SMK CONVENT but also the last activity for the board 2008/2009.
A total number of 25 members of INTERACT from both school took part in this activity.

The ORGANISING CHAIRMAN had earlier informed everyone to arrive at 1.30pm for some preparation.

2.00p.m. sharp, we went into the room and have a nice magic show which was performed by two funny clowns. Besides that the 2 clowns also give away some sweets for those children. The smiling faces of the children proved that the activity was really fun.

After that, we continued with a game named “LONDON BRIDGE” accompanied by our committee on the piano

Then, the “LONDON BRIDGE” ended and followed by the “HANDKERCHIEF” game. The children really enjoyed themselves in this game.

Besides, we also played the ‘SOFT-FORM BOARD’ game. This game is to test the children’s ability to act fast by taking the board and put it in front of the students for them to jump onto. The winners were given 2 pencils and an eraser as prizes. However, those who did not win were not left out too! They were extremely happy after getting the prizes.

With the high commitment of Interact members from both schools, the visit ended happily. We managed to take a few group photos before leaving.
It was a very successful project which has certainly benefits everyone who took part in it!!!

International Understanding Night 2009

Great News!!

Visit to Day Training Cantre

We had our second joint community service project with High School Batu Pahat again!
This time, we paid a visit to the Day Training Centre(DTC) with a total of 21 Interactors from both schools.

The Organizing Chairman had earlier divided us into groups and gave us a briefing on what we were supposed to do there. Hence, everyone started cleaning the place right after we reached there.

The Interactors really showed great cooperation among themselves.

Although they have to work under blazing hot sun, they never complain of anything because our Interactors have been holding on to the motto of Interact Club - Service Above Self.
They're always trying their best to help the less fortunate with their very sincere hearts. That's the great spirit shown by Interactors of both schools.

On the whole, that was a very successful project which has certainly benefits everyone who took part in it. We managed to take some group photos before leaving the place!

Orientation of Interact Club 2009

The Orientation of Interact Club of TIGS was held at the Upper Six Arts on the last Saturday with the purpose of encourage interaction among the members.

On that day, Interactors came to school at 7.30 am to do some preperation before the orientation starts. The registration for the members were started at 8.00 am.

The Masters of Ceremony on that day were Wendy Victoria Vaz and Ruby Tan. The orientatation was started by introducing the purpose of Interact Club to the members. The motto of Interact Club is "SERVICE ABOVE SELF" whereas the slogan of Interact Club is "WE CAN, WE CARE, WE SHARE". Members were requested to sing Interact Song.

A slide show of all the activities that had been carrying out by the Interact Club of TIGS was shown on that day too. The activities included Sports Day Food Sale, Visit to Old Folks Home, 5th Joint Installation of HSBP & TIGS, Interact Camp and so on... Special thanks to Chew Chin Yee and Lim Syruu that had prepared the slide shows~

Before the refreshements was being served to the members, a short talk was given by the teacher advisors, Miss Lam.

Sports Day Food Sale.

Time: 8.00am – 12.00pm

It was the school’s annual Sports Day! Being part of the school, the Interact Club of TIGS had a food sale on this day. Interactors involved decided to sell French fries, nuggets, hotdogs, popcorn chicken, pudding and bubble tea.

On that morning, the Interactors prepared everything and gathered the things needed together. With the help of our very on teacher advisors, Ms. Lam and Pn. Norina, we brought everything to the stadium. We began our preparations at around 8AM.

The sale finally started at approximately 9.00AM when the crowd began to surround our stall. Everyone was so serious in doing their jobs. Frying, selling, persuading, receiving money and giving back changes and etc. We were so busy, business was good!

Int. Wendy Victoria Vaz and Int. Chew Chin Yee was frying the food.

Int. Seng Zhi Ruo Anna was busy handling the money and look at Int. Pao Zhi Qing with her funny pose there.

The sale ended at around 12NOON before the closing ceremony of the Sports Day. The committees counted the profit and yup, we did great!!!

Distribution of Mandarin Oranges for CNY

In conjunction with the festive season of Chinese New Year, Interact Club of TIGS decided to give out mandarin oranges to the teachers and staffs of our school. This was a project which the club had been carrying out since a few years back.

This year, a total of 6 boxes of mandarin oranges were wrapped for 80 teachers.

The directors in charge gathered in the science lab early in the morning and began the wrapping process. Want to know how we wrapped the oranges?

First, we cut the wrappers.

Then, the oranges were wrapped. A tiny little ribbon was used to tie it.

We wrote our sincere wishes in some tiny little cards printed.

The cards were then folded nicely.

This is how the little cards looked like.
Everyone did a very good job in wrapping the mandarin oranges. And this is our outcome!!!

The process finished at around 12NOON. We then divided into different groups to different locations in school to distribute the mandarin oranges. The teachers were happy to receive them and we were happy they like them. The activity was a success!

Visit to Old Folks Home

The Interact Club of TIGS paid a visit to Rumah Sejahtera (Old Folks Home) together with the Interact Club of HSBP. It was a joint community service project with Organizing Chairman Int. Tan Kah Yee from HSBP and Vice O.C. Int. Khoo Evie from TIGS. The Interactors involved arrived around 8.45am and we were accompanied by our teacher advisors - Mdm. How(TIGS) & Mdm. Teo(HSBP).

The day started with a "Hokkien" song by Int. Karen See from HSBP followed by Int. Wendy Victoria Vaz with a few English songs accompanied by her guitar. Pres. Ng Zhen Xian had also performed an Indian version of "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" which totally amused the old folks there! They sang along with our Interactors and some of them even clapped their hands while our interactors performed.

After that, we were given a chance to chat with them. Our interactors listened to their stories patiently besides concerning about their health and life. Then, we played some simple games with them before giving them red packets to cheer them up! Int. Tan Kah Yee performed a magic show which the old folks enjoyed very much.

Before going home, we handed some daily necessities to the person-in-charge there which was some little thoughts from us. We managed to take a group photo with the old folks too!
I'm sure this visit has been a beneficial one to those involved as it has really given us a great chance to interact with the older generation. The visit ended around 11a.m.

5th Joint Installation of HSBP & TIGS

Theme : Back to Basics

On 17th August 2008, the Interact Clubs of HSBP & TIGS had organized the 5th Joint Installation at Hai Huang Restaurant with the theme, "Back To Basics". Guests started to fill up the hall around 6.30p.m. Following was the arrival of the Rotarians and teacher advisors of both schools. The ceremony was then addressed by the emcees of the night, Int. Cheong Wan Yi, Int. How Shin Lei, Int. Joshua Ong and Int. Lim Chin Hau.

The ceremony started with the opening performance from our very own Interact Band. After that was the singing of the national anthem and roll call of Various Interact Clubs. Then, the Rotarian advsiors of both schools - PP Foo Kok Hing(TIGS) & Rtn. Bobby Lim(HSBP) delivered their speeches. The ceremony continued with the speeches by the outgoing presidents, Int. Ng Keruey(HSBP) & Int. Daphne Soh(TIGS).

Momentoes were given to the outgoing Board of Directors and also souvenirs for the Rotarians, teacher advisors as well as sponsors. Badges were then presented to the incoming B.O.D. 2008/2009 of both schools by PP Foo Kok Hing. Next, the oath taking ceremony was led by the President of Interact Club HSBP, Pres. Ng Zhen Xian followed by the singing of Interact Song.

The highlight of the night began with a sketch by interactors from HSBP and TIGS. Besides, there were other performances for the special night namely, Fashion Show which comprised of our own Interactors, Latin & Ballroom Dance, a dance by the committee members, the Mario show, Magic Show and etc.

On the whole, it was really a very successful and memorable night for everyone especially the organizing committee as they had been working hard to ensure that the ceremony runs smoothly. Every guests were given a goodies bag as a token of appreciation before they left. The committee members took some photos for remembrance before going home.

Year-End Trip 2008

Venue: Malacca

The Interact Club of Tigs had organised a 3days 2nights year-end trip to Malacca!!
There were 35 members and 2 teachers, Miss Lam Suet Ling and Miss Ong Bee Chern who took part in this trip.
Everyone seemed very excited before we departed at 8.00am from our school.

When we reached Malacca at about 10.00am, we visited the Portugese House and the Baba &Nyonya Herritage Museum. In the museum, we learned a lot about their culture, and we were all fascinated by it!

We took some photos as well as we had just came out from the building.

After that, we moved to D'Village Resort for checking in. At night, we visited Jonker Street.

How crowded was there! We enjoyed ourselves having a leisurely stroll in between all the stalls.

Next morning, we had a chance to visit Animal World Safari and A' Famosa Resort until 5 o'clock in the evening.

Water!!

That night, we were served with delicious barbeque dinner.

On the last day of the trip, we went for a sit on Eye on Malaysia. We had a chance to enjoy the beautiful scenery of Malacca.

We then moved to Dataran Pahlawan and also Mahkota Parade. It was shopping time!!

At around 3.00pm, we visited the Maine International Trade Centre (MITC). There was an exhibition about the mysterious existence of UFO. It was interesting enough.

This trip had been organised successfully. We greatly appreciate all the hard work by our committees, especially to Int. Ruby Tan (Organizing chairman)!!

Thanks our teachers advisors for guidance and also the cooperation given by all the participants for making us the unforgettable and enjoyable trip.
